Mercury retrogrades on Sunday, 16 February.
Mercury falls back into Aquarius on Thursday, 5 March.
Mercury turns direct on Monday, 9 March.
Mercury leaves its storm on Thursday, 19 March – Ostara – Spring Equinox

In 2020, Mercury retrogrades in the water signs of Pisces, Cancer, and Scorpio.  Two of these retrogrades also capture the Air energies of Aquarius (February/March cycle) and Libra (October/November cycle). Typically, a Mercury retrograde is a time to review, re-tool, and make plans to revamp. In February, Mercury is lighting up the correspondences it rules as well as those of Pisces and Aquarius giving you a chance to do some evaluation and provides ideas for directional change if you don’t like what you are seeing.  You will most likely find yourself more contemplative and desiring to sync with nature, water, and the flow of positivity.

If you start feeling inundated, impatient or irritated that what you desire isn’t moving fast enough – this really is a signal that you need to adjust your perception – change state (in your mind) – breathe deep, ground and center.  Hold your hands under running water to bring you back into alignment.

How to Handle The Retrograde:

In general, it is believed that your choices and real movement on projects should be done after Mercury leaves it storm (which would be the 19 of March) — then, you can throw your throttle into full speed ahead.  During Mercury retrograde, drag out those musty projects and give them another go.  Basic rule:  Don’t do anything new (that could cost you big time later).  However, there are exceptions.  For example, let’s say you always wanted to try something; but, never had the time or resources to do it – and now you do!  Since this is a topic you have revisited numerous times, it just may be time to welcome the new experience. 

How to surf through the retrograde?  I like making conjure bags that contain Mercury related herbs along with a piece of silver and protective symbols written on parchment.  Quick, easy, you can prepare and empower your work in a short time.  Carry the bag with you throughout the retrograde period.  Spirit Animals associated with air, flying, etc. such as birds, dragons, etc., are great to make.  I also use snakes – they are super simple to glue and stitch and you can make them colorful and fun!  I also burn Mercury Retrograde candles, a blend of Lemon, Lavender, Orange, and Honeysuckle with crystals and amethyst (power and focus).  The top of my candle is the Lavender/Lemon to banish negativity and bring peace, where the bottom of the candle is my Road Opener Formula – Honeysuckle and Orange with Road Opener magickal powder.

The Cycles of Mercury – The Big Picture of the Mercury Retrograde

Pisces energy is all about seeing the big picture – to be able to disentangle yourself from the minutiae and float above the maelstrom of everyone else’s shit to see the overall energy pattern of what is really happening.  When people think that Pisces energy is dizzy or flaky, they don’t realize that the Pisces born live in a different world –a perception of divinity, connection to all that is, and inherent ability to move the mind between the seen and unseen.   Do you love research?  It is interesting to know that Mercury retrogrades have a cycle (give or take 79 years) in which the retrogrades have an exactness of covering the same signs, the same degrees on approximately the same calendar days in the past. The Mercury retrograde we will experience in February 2020 corresponds to 17 February 1941. If you are into history, why not Google the highlights of 1941!*

marigoldfluidcondenserA Fluid Condenser is a blend of natural ingredients prepared in a symbolic way using magickal correspondences, timing, and ritual. There are several types of fluid condensers — liquid, solid, and gaseous — none of which are edible.   Liquid fluid condensers are a delight to make, and with the change of season ahead, you might want to cast your crafty eyes on gathering and brewing your own powerful magick enhancer!
There are several theories on how a fluid condenser operates. Some feel the purpose of the fluid condenser is to securely hold specified energy (impregnated thoughts) until the practitioner directs and releases that energy to the defined goal or target. In this line of thinking, the fluid condenser is thought to be able to accumulate substantial charges of energy that, when directed properly, can help a magickal working come to fruition quickly and with speed. Think of it like a conjure oil on steroids or an energy storage locker.
Others believe that the condenser is more of an attraction mechanism, pulling the right combination of power to amplify and assist in solidifying your thought pattern. Finally, there are those who think the fluid condensers do both; store and amplify (that would be me).
rosefluidcondenserRegardless of the theories, most people who use a liquid condenser agree that they work extremely well due to the tincture of gold in the formula as it is believed that gold grabs and holds power. Here at the hearthstone, we are of the opinion that the liquid fluid condensers take the charge of sound extremely well (tuning forks, chanting, drumming, singing) which works perfectly in our Spiritism, Braucherei and whisper magicks.
The process of creating a liquid fluid condenser isn’t tedious; but, it does take time. The technique calls for two to three times reduction through boiling (depending upon the specific intent) of distilled, spring, or well water — and the lid is to be kept on during the cooling process, which can take several hours depending upon conditions. I use water from an underground mountain aquifer, as well as fresh and dried organic and wildcrafted herbs, which means that our fluid condensers are created only in season and in small batches.  Astrological timing is also a big factor, particularly for our Psychic Divination compound condenser.  In 2016 I showed a pictorial sequence and short video clip on my Instagram account of the brewing and empowering of the Divination Liquid Fluid Condenser, which we stored in a jar painted black.
I gather the flowers and herbs and then prepare the condensers either in my kitchen or, if weather permits, on a metal tripod over an outdoor fire, finishing with a complete ritual empowerment sequence.   I always offer the herbs to the four directions and bless them with holy water and candle fire.  If you wish to make your own liquid fluid condenser, you can review the step by step instructions in my book “The Witching Hour” available on Amazon, at your favorite magickal book store, or on my WhisperMagick website.

The shelf-life is exceptionally long due to the alcohol content, so you don’t have to worry about your condenser going bad. Our practices here have shown that the liquid fluid condensers work very well for anointing objects, dressing poppets, creating talismans (which many feel may have been the fluid condenser’s original purpose), anointing candles, dotting on conjure bags, and a compendium of other magickal operations from healing to drawing good fortune, to work for rendering justice and sending back negative energy.  Use with water, (3 drops of fluid condenser) in a boiling cauldron with a person’s name immersed, is believed to facilitate quick healing.
