Today’s Challenge: Personal Spiritual Cleansing – This includes a shower or bath with empowered herbs or blessed water. Place two lit candles in front of shower or tub — when cleansing is over, step out and stand between the two candles. Declare an empowering statement such as: “As I walk through the light, I am cleansed, purified, and blessed. I become the energies of healing, harmony, and good fortune. I am!”
Every year, I try to offer a new and unique component to the Great Release Program. This year I am sharing my Silver’s Protocol. Since 2016 I’ve been working on a protocol to be used as a launch for any activity. Being a Braucherei practitioner, I long ago learned the value of memorized, repetitive charms, and procedures. In teaching my students, I realized I needed a protocol (a repeated set of steps) that would be useful no matter the circumstance. After a great deal of research and experimentation, I finally developed a five-step process to support the success I desired in any endeavor. I offered this protocol to Granny Camp attendees in the summer of 2018, with positive feedback.
For the next five days, I will be discussing my protocol in the release program, one step per day. This will give you a chance to think about the process and add the information to your own set of positive personal mental tools. The beautiful thing about my protocol? No religion. Anyone can do it, no matter what they believe (as long as they believe in themselves, lol).
Step One: Have an open mindset. Before you begin anything, or deal with anything, or make a decision — take a moment to clear your head completely. Then say to yourself: “Anything is possible!” I look up, and in my mind, I envision a blue sky and open sea — water laughing as it splashes on the rocks, the air sweet and salty. And I smile.
I’ve been using this visualization for two years.
In December of 2018, my family and I flew to Maui. I hadn’t been on a family vacation for almost twenty years, and I was super excited to go to such a spiritual place. On the road to Hana is the Wai’anapanapa National Park which hosts the Black Sand Beach. My youngest daughter and oldest son (I have to be specific because having four kids I learned that everyone wants to be acknowledged correctly in a story) reached the beach first. I trundled along behind, just bloody well happy to be there. The daughter ran like a cheetah for the water; but, my son veered to the right and disappeared. He came back several minutes later. “You’ve GOT to see this!” he said, dragging me toward a cave.
With a small opening.
Like, get down on your knees and crawl.
No, I do not have any senior-citizen dignity.
Once inside, I realized this lava cave opens directly to the sea.
My eyes popped wide — I was staring at the visualization I’d been using for over two years. The spirit of the cave said, “Anything is possible.”
And so it is.
For some, having an open mindset is easy. Others, like me, have to work at it. It is too easy to immediately see the pathway of negativity, rather than the open, joyful realm of possibilities. I think this is because, from the time some of us are little, there are always too many people around us (for whatever reason) who want to shut us down the moment we try to think something joyful, new, or different. Thinking “closed” becomes a pattern, a soft, smelly, tattered mental blanket that we mistakenly believe is a super shield of protection. In reality, this behavior that we so willingly accept manifests as our ticket to defeat.
The Great Release Program is all about the process of letting go. We want to learn to be joyful in the release so that letting go becomes a positive pattern that enhances our lives. We use the month-long time period to take little bites in moving forward rather than choking on huge, emotional pieces, and then giving up so we don’t have to deal.
Viewing life as a sea of potential — an ocean of open opportunity — begins the change. Why not light a sea-blue candle (or white) and meditate on my story about the Black Sand Beach and how you can incorporate an open mindset in ALL that you do.

Day One for Silver — New Year’s Day was a busy one here. I made sure to prepare the traditional good luck foods for the family and moved one large piece of furniture (break up that negative chi!). I filled the charity bag by the door and took it out to the car to drop it off tomorrow. I also repotted several of the houseplants. They’ve been miffed that I’ve ignored them all through the autumn. Five of them are just visiting — they belong to my oldest son — the green thumb guy. All the holiday decorations are boxed and packed away. New Year’s dinner dishes are washed. We’re golden.
