2015 Great Release Program
Day 3 – December 3 2015
by Silver RavenWolf

Every day you must throw something away!

Thursday
Moon in Virgo- 4th Quarter (Banishing!)

Ideal Planetary Hour for Magick — Mercury Hour for Virgo Energy – Jupiter Hour for the Ruler of the Day

Light a Silver or Blue Candle to bring Virgo Moon energy into your day!

This Week’s Theme:  Clearing Your Mind

The Foundation —  Begin your day with the Braucherei Morning cleansing and empowerment exercise (please view first post of the program ), followed by practicing this week’s theme — Clearing Your Mind — where each day you will practice replacing negative thoughts with positive ones.  Think of something you love — and hold onto it as long as you can each and every time a negative, fearful, or worry filled thought crosses your mind.  Don’t forget to use the Peace Prayer and the Star Throw in your daily activities (located in Day 2 of the program).  When you have finished with this week’s theme exercises, move on to today’s fun activities!

Silver Notes — The Reward Calendar —To help you with this year’s release program I made a calendar for you.  Print out the image and use it to keep track of your accomplishments, or schedule tasks that you don’t want to forget.  For example, let’s say this Saturday is Oven Day; but, you have a family function that will take most of the day and you won’t be able to get to the oven that day.  Choose another day and write Oven Day on your calendar so you won’t forget the task. The calendar also serves as a motivation tool.  Each day give yourself One Star if you have thrown or given something away.  Two Stars if you have accomplished the day’s main task — for example, today is Bitty Day where you will concentrate on all that little stuff you’ve been meaning to do — but haven’t.  Give yourself Three Stars if you have accomplished everything listed in today’s summary located at the bottom of this post.  On Saturday, count your stars and reward yourself!  You can also use the Star/Reward idea with others in the home.  Perhaps earning a star every day wins their favorite pizza or ice cream at the end of the week.  This is your program, use it the way it suits you and your family best.

Today’s Challenges!

Magickal Challenge — Today you will choose at least one Totem Animal that you feel best represents what you want to accomplish with this year’s release program.  If you choose an animal that you aren’t familiar with — do a little research to find out more about it.  Once you choose your totem animal (yes, you can choose two, if you like) spend a little time today in meditation, vision questing or divination to understand more about yourself and your goals through your connection with the animal spirit.  Sometimes the animal will choose you.  For example, you may go outside after reading today’s post and a squirrel whips an acorn at your head (it can happen) — Squirrel, then, would be your totem animal for the program.  What if you see a bug instead?  That’s just fine.  Spiders, Praying Mantis, and other insects have loads of magick to share!

This year, I chose the Barn Owl and the Goose as the totem animals for the overall 2015 program.  The Owl is a messenger totem, a power animal of white magick, and the keeper of wisdom (often associated with Athena), clairvoyance and insight.  I hear them most night’s in the woods and have found comfort in their eerie call.  The Goose is associated with Dame Holda (Birtha and Frigga also have connections to this power animal as well as Hecate, Aphrodite and Juno).  Goose energy is extremely protective and can be aggressive (the reptile mind of a parent when its young is in trouble). It is said that the goose can shape destiny and render justice when needed.  Most important (and back to Dame Holda) — the energy of the goose rewards the hard working.  Finally, who doesn’t like Mother Goose and her ability to spin the magick of words?  Whether you choose your own totems or use the two that I’ve picked for the program — put a picture, statue, drawing or other image of your totem animal(s) on your peace altar today.  Ask that their wisdom and power enter your life where it is most needed.

Physical Challenge — Today is Little Bitty Day.  This is the day that you work on as many small things that you can that you have ignored the past month or two.  Doesn’t matter what it is — what matters is that you finish as many tasks as possible.  Maybe you meant to sweep the garage floor — but, you’ve just been too busy.  Forgot to empty the trash in the bathroom?  Left the bread molding in the corner of the rack in the kitchen?  Need to dump toaster crumbs?  Clean out the dryer vent?  Vacuum under the sink?  Throw out those super old blue jeans that don’t fit anymore?  Put something away you bought three weeks ago?  You choose.  With the fourth quarter Moon in Virgo, this is a perfect day for small tasks, cleaning up e-mails, filing paperwork (Mercury Ruler of the Virgo Moon) or getting your holiday gift list squared in your mind.  Bitty Day will be different for everyone!

Today’s Summary

Choose a Totem Animal(s) to represent your goals in this program.

Repeat the Peace Prayer and practice the Star Throw Blessing.

Little Bitty Day!  How many little Bitty tasks were you able to accomplish?

Throw one thing away (most important task)

Don’t forget to add the coins to your Joy Jar!

Sleep well and see ya in the morning!

Peace with the Gods
Peace with Nature
Peace Within!

  1. Hi! I was wondering if the “joy jar”
Is the glass of water you’re supossed to change every day?

  2. Not so many bitty tasks, I refreshed my bedroom altar for Yule, and then sorted the stuff that has been piling up in the cabinet underneath. Today is a regular cleaning day for me so still have to do the regular cleaning, but the washing machine danced out of place when I washed towels, and I saw the lint pileup that was hiding behind, so got that cleaned up. Not a lot of Bitty tasks on my to-do list.

I found it interesting, my knee jerk reaction to animal totems is wolf or cat, but I also work with snake a lot, and snake seemed to fit well with my goal (and I ended up straightening an old shed skin from a snake pet we used to have). But I decided to do a proper look inside, and ended up seeing ant instead. Which, while I definitely respect ant, out of all the critters out there, ant is one of the ones that gives me the deepest wiggins (old childhood trauma’s). I ran with ant though, and have a animal totem deck, so checked it out and found the ant card to put on my peace altar….then read the section on ant…and wow! The main message the book gave to me was that ant was about patience, and my goal for this release is transformation day by day, so little steps fit perfect. but more than that, there was a whole message about ant having faith that what they have is enough, and if they need something they will trust that it will come to them or that they will be able to create what they need with what they have. Which is very much a message I struggle with in my releasing of stuff: fear of not having enough. So I think it will be a very powerful totem for me.

Along those lines, I am very proud because I released something that I had been holding onto for many years now. It was something that really cut deep to my heart, something that I had clung to, a security blanket of sorts. And it just felt like time, so I let it go.

    1. I am so proud of you! Yes, it is very hard to let go of something you have been hanging onto like a security blanket. So understand! I pulled the ant this summer. Get ready for industrious!

  3. I almost forgot about this program until I saw the post on FB. I’m 2 days behind, however I am determined to catch up! I have found my Joy Jar, going to decorate it tonight! Also setting up my Braucherei altar tonight, for now it is an empty cover cardboard box. My Peace Altar will also be done last tonight, it’s actually mostly in place, however I’m going to give everything a good clean and reset it up. I kinda did it before knowing what it was I was doing. Having a hard time figuring an Animal Totem… Hoping it comes to me soon!

The cleaning is going GREAT! I was doing the 3 minute bursts and it turned into just continuing what I was working on. I started with my garage. I’m sweeping walls, cleaning doors, going through old things. I purged quite a bit today and only half way through the garage!!! I am so excited to get my magical stuffs done tonight, be caught up, and figure out what I’m releasing!

  4. I’m having a fantastic time with the programme this year. It’s got a lovely shamanic and energetic feel to it for me. I’m keeping up with all of the tasks and challenges. The cleaning has been a bit of a struggle from time to time, but it’s even more satisfying to finish if it hasn’t come easily! The house is already looking and feeling better. I have a frog as my animal totem. Frogs teach me about the magnifying impact of small changes, because they’re so sensitive to changes in their environment. I’m looking forward to keeping up the momentum as we go through (she says optimistically!)🙂

  5. And here comes the butterfly… which is interesting because that fits very well, and also while I like butterflies I’ve never been specifically pulled towards them (kind of especially not, actually).
I worked on quite annoying tidying tasks today, but they’re done now and that’s mighty good! Itty bitty as in tiny stuff to sort out.
    Love the reward calendar!😀

    1. Very cool! I know what you mean. I got bugs all summer every time we used the Medicine Cards in circle — was glad when I finally moved on to something else, lol.

  6. Was so happy to see you doing this again this year.Off to a bit of a wonky start, but I love it. Can we use the same jar as last year or shoulx it be new? If yes should I cleanse it or can I keep the papers from laat year in there?

  7. I’m glad this one fell on my day off! I got plenty of little tasks done around the house, including blocking the doily I crocheted for my grandma’s gift & FINALLY putting that laundry I left in the basket away, lol. My DH even organized the random stacks of books & art supplies surrounding his drafting table (he’s an artist by profession) & on his side of the bedroom. I’m so glad because anymore piles & I was afraid I’d run into the Minotaur when trying to find a pen, lol!
As for the magickal challenge, I started off with 4 totem animals, but only 2 wound up sticking. I feel the other two were simply carrying a message I needed to hear. I drew a very simple version of both animals & colored them so I could weave my own energy with theirs.
My altar is looking beautiful with all of the things I am adding for the Program! Our home feels lighter, we feel even closer together (we’re going on 7 years!), & I am finding it much easier this year to move us forward as we work on our long term goals. Only 4 days in, I can’t wait to see the change at the end of the month! Must be time.🙂

  8. i’m so happy to be in this group. i’m a little behind but i’m catching up..i finished my altar i just have to bless it. i love the exercises. My animals we’re picked out…not a very hard exercise.. These exercises help put me in a positive frame of mind. i have a hard time catching it when i’m thinking negative, but these exercises definitely make my thinking more positive and gear them towards a more positive attitude.. it also helps with getting going! i’m so lazy sometimes and i don’t know where to start it’s so overwhelming..!! so i funk out!..what a blessing! what a blessing to us all! Thank-you Silver!

  9. My totems are a butterfly and a frog. I just added a beautiful butterfly to my altar as well as a little frog that has a winter scarf around it’s neck. Both represent transformation which is the biggest happening in my life right now. Every since I participated in your Great Release Challenge 4 years ago I have made the Braucherei part of my morning routine. If I happen to miss it, believe me I can tell a difference.

Little Bitty challenge was fun – I kind of felt like a butterfly fluttering through the house spreading my joy of cleanliness. LOL. I forgot to mention that the joy jar is just an extension to my gratitude journaling I do everyday. Gratitude for you offering this challenge.♥
