This rite is from The Sixth and Seventh Books of Moses.  The words here are of Hebrew origin.

The Cross of the Qabalists is the equal-armed “Greek Cross” of the four elements and the four directions, which are like the Crux Ansata of Egypt.  The words are the Hebrew Qabalist formula of invocation of the Creator, which is our Lady and our Lord together.  They mean “for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever,” later used by the Hebrew teacher Yehshuah.

The names intoned toward the four directions are mighty and powerful names.  AGLA is believed to be a combination of initials of invocation, representing a powerful formula of invocation of the Qabalists.

The Archangels are the rulers of the directions of the elements in the magickal traditions.  The totems of the four directions may be summoned as the protectors as well.

The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram

There are four parts to the rite.

1.  The Qabalistic Cross of the Hebrew Sages

2.  The Pentagrams and the Sacred Names.

3.  The Invocations of the Archangels of the Directions.

4.  The Qabalistic Cross, repeated.

Take your time with the intonation of your words.  Visualize as best you can, concentrating particularly on your visions of the angels listed and the banishing pentagram.  The more you use this banishing technique the better it will work for you.  I have friends who have used it in a subway, on a train, in a plane, and even during an earthquake to keep themselves safe.  Once you have practiced the technique aloud, you can easily close your eyes and visualize the entire process so that in an emergency, no one will know what you are doing.

The Qabalistic Cross of the Four Elements

With the fingers of the right hand drawn from the heavens into the forehead, say:

Ah-tah

Touching the chest or stomach below the heart, say:

Mal-koot

Touching the right shoulder, say:

Ve-geh-boorah

Touching the left shoulder, say:

Ve-ged-oolah

Clasping hands at heart, say:

Lay-olam

Amen.

The Pentagrams and the Sacred Names

Facing East, trace the Banishing Pentagram of Earth with hand or athame, and say:

Yod-hay-vow-hay (YHVH or Tetragrammaton)

Facing South, trace the Banishing Pentagram of Earth and say:

Ad-do-noy

Facing West, trace the Banishing Pentagram of Earth and say:

Eh-ay-eh

Facing North, trace the Banishing Pentagram of Earth and say:

Ah-gee-lah

The Invocations of the Archangels of the Directions

Facing East, extend the arms to the sides to form a cross with the whole body and say:

Before me, Raphael
Behind me, Gabriel
On my right is Michael
On my left is Auriel
Before me
(or around me) flames the Pentagram
And above me shines the Six-Rayed Star
Shekinah! descend upon me now!

Repeat as before:

  1. hi…does this needs to be chanted everyday along with the morning ritual of great release program?

    pls guide

  2. This ritual is in your book “Angels and Magic.” Thanks for a pleasant reminder. In my opinion (trying to understand): “Mal-koot, Ve-geh-boorah, Ve-ged-oolah, Lay-olam, Amen” – this corresponds to the Ideas of Jesus, “how to pray.” – “For Yours is The Kingdom, and The Power, and The Glory forever. Amen”.

  3. my day has been a long one but have had so much to think about. it seems like the more i do, twice as much is to be done, will i ever see the light at the end of the tunnel today? silver, i will survive. i will attain my goals. i get up and before i get out of bed… i give thanks for 20 things in my life and why im grateful for them… then the last thing i do before sleeping is that i think of every single GOOD thing that happened during the day , pick the most awesome and give thanks for it…so i start the day being grateful and end it being grateful. no matter how tired i am it makes the day seem better for me
