Day 22 of the Great Release Program!

Our View of Ourselves is Often Skewed -- We are So Smashed Against Ourselves with Emotions that we Fail to See our Talents

Day 22 of the Great Release Challenge
30 Days to an Awesome New You!

by Silver RavenWolf

Your Mission Today:  Wash a window.  Just one will do; however, if you really want to push the grime away — do as many as you can.  This includes any windows within the house, such as the microwave, the glass on any furniture, and the faces of all clocks.  Finally, clean any mirrors in the house or apartment.

Why?

On one level, the washing of something we see through or reflects images back to us,  symbolically indicates we are ready to view ourselves and the world around us clearly, and (perhaps) from a different point of view — whatever might be necessary to move forward in life and expand mentally and spiritually.  There is an old adage that says:  To be enlightened, is to know thyself.  Surface consideration of this saying is something we’ve all thought of many times.  We must dig deep within ourselves, unearth the old negative thoughts and habits, and replace those ideas with new and healthier feelings about ourselves.  It is necessary, to move forward, to jettison past programming introduced by others or by the self.  Changing the way we think on any subject is totally within our control; therefore, we must first recognize that we own this control before we can capably exercise it.

The Great Release Challenge you are working on shows your desire to become a better person by focusing on your environment and on yourself.  By no means selfish, the program is designed to empower the totality of you.  If you are not happy within the self, then you are not affecting the world around you in the best way possible.  What is within — is without.  The program’s main function is to get you thinking in a flow of positive change.  When actively engaged in outward change, we give ourselves the opportunity of inward change.

And when we hit the tipping point of inward change, simply amazing things can happen!

Just think, all you might do is wash a damn window, and epiphany strikes.

Sometimes, its just one little thing — one outward change — that moves the entire foundation of you.

There is another way to look at the statement:  Know Thyself.

What if it doesn’t mean — understand yourself.

What if it REALLY means — change yourself into that which you most desire.

Remember what I’ve been trying to teach you with magick?  Do you remember my discussion on the words “To Know”?  Let’s go over what I wrote to you twenty-two days ago:

To Know — This is the most important of the four building blocks.  It means to know within yourself that what you desire WILL come to pass.  It is an assurance within your heart, mind and soul — an agreement of all your senses.  To know always ends with a smile.  It is the thought, the bone structure, of what you desire.  It is the bud that will unfold and bring your desire to fruition.  In Braucherei, ‘ To Know’ is used often and many times stated in a veiled way, sometimes predicated on faith, belief, or a statement of what surely is.  To Know in your heart that things will work out — is absolutely vital to magick and getting what you want or need.  You must supersede the monkey-mind and rise above your own doubts.  You must KNOW, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that what you desire will manifest.

To Know, then, is a combined use of your senses — you must emotionally feel that all will be well — you must think that all will be well — you must act as if all will be well.

To Know…is to believe.

To Know…is to have faith.

To Know…is to acknowledge.

To Know…is to dare.

To Know…is to will.

To Know…is to be silent…because the silence is your agreement of what is to be.

Therefore…To Know…may not mean the understanding of oneself — To Know may mean the making of yourself.

When you say:  I Know — and really mean it — there is a stupendous moment of perfection, often a split second that the monkey-mind may not recognize, and therefore chatter over.  Extend the second…and watch how you feel.  That feeling of peace.  That feeling of utter harmony?  That is to Know.  That is your power.  That is your message that what you desire will manifest.

Too often, though, our personal vision of ourselves is skewed (today’s pic) and we find ourselves so smashed into our own reflections that we don’t see ourselves clearly.

The most powerful magick then?  Is not what you direct toward others — but, what you direct and absorb toward and within yourself.

Try — Knowing — Yourself, today.

My Release Diary — Yule today, for me, was very pleasant.  I spent the morning relaxing and playing with the rat-of-the-rat-palace.  For lunch I met a very good friend and we spent several hours together chatting.  We started at the restaurant and wandered back to my house.  As we were talking I picked up a silver charm on my dining room table.  I don’t know where the charm came from — there have been so many people in and out of here in the last week with all the holidays.  I played with the charm for quite a long time while listening to my friend talk about her deceased parents (in a good way) — memories, stories, I love to hear the lilt in her voice (Mum was from England).  After awhile I tossed the charm to her and said, “Do you know what this is?  I don’t know where it came from.”

She rolled it over in her hands and shook her head.  “Its obvious its Asian characters,” she said, “but, I haven’t a clue what it means.”

The conversation continued, we shared hugs and good wishes, as some of my family members began rolling in the door.  After dinner, with the table cleared, I sat down to have a cup of tea and picked up the charm.  This time I had my glasses on, and there, plain as day on the back of the charm, was the imprinted word:  Friend.

I nodded.

Yes, indeed.

  1. i’m way ahead …. I have been saying ” i know” for months now almost a year, ever sience i had my last transitional phase…. I’m washing every mirror and window, this is more metaphore symbolism but why didnt i see it before? double thanks for this one silver, you are awsome!!!!! )0(

  2. Well, we had to put plastic over the windows cause they’re so old and drafty (I’d rather be cold and able to look outside though), so cleaning them is a no go. I guess I could clean the outside, but I’m not that brave, reflective surfaces inside will have to do. As far as “Know Thyself”; that’s one of my favorite, quotes, mantras, affirmations, etc. I even designed a beautiful sun and moon tattoo that says this across the middle, it’s on my wrist and I glance at it numerous times thoughout the day. When I was going throu my junk drawer yesterday (stuff keeps managing to crawl in there!) I came across some sort of asian character charm too; how’s that for synchronisity! Silver, I’ve got a personal question that I really don’t need an answer to, more like guidance, and I was wondering if there was any way that I could message you without it being in the public arena? Thank you for all you do! By the way, you haven’t posted anything in a while, how’s Jamie coming along with your bedroom?

  3. Hi Silver,
What a wonderful challenge! Thank you!

I love the story of the charm, the way its meaning became clear when you put on the reading glasses. How beautifully it illustrates the entire premise for today’s challenge. For me, one of the things that resonates so much in your blog is that you are a gorgeous storyteller. Okay, the wisdom and wit does it for me too. : )

Here’s a notion: what if Chi left you the charm on the table when you weren’t looking as a token of gratitude for the extra play-time and roomy new quarters?

    Hearts.

    1. Hey, TG! Thanks so much for the lovely thoughts! Oh, too cool on the charm. I can see Chi now, dashing across the floor, skittering into the table leg, clawing his way up the deacon’s bench and hopping to edge of the red table cloth…slipping…slipping… Oh, shit, just throw it up there. lol You are the greatest!

  4. Wow, we’ve managed to chuck a lot of stuff! Today at the office we’re doing a purge/release. It hasn’t been done here in over 30 years. Let me tell, there’s a lot of crap. We have the entire team doing nothing but purging and we’re not even half way done, and its already past noon! Oh well, as long as they keep the coffee coming lol. I just hope I still have some energy left by the time I get home to finish what I need to do there… Funny how the other you were talking about all the little stuff we ask for and don’t really notice when they happen, well today was one of those days, except I did notice. I need bubble wrap to wrap my mother-in-law’s gift, or at least one of them, before putting it in my carry on, today there was a pile of it left in my office! I also wanted to bake or by some brownies and goodies for the plane and long day of traveling we have ahead of us, today the President of my company left a big gift basket for me on my desk full of goodies that are the perfect size for the carry ons!

Days end will reveal, that all will be well.
And it will, I know it!

Many many many blessings to you and your family Silver this holiday season. Thank you so much for empowering us this holiday season, you’ve given us the most amazing gift of all, the gift of knowledge. The knowledge that we have the power to change our lives in a positive way and better ourselves. Thank you, I can think of no greater gift.

    Always,

    David James

    1. David, when we finally meet, I’m probably just going to stand there and bawl and hug you until ur stuffin’s come out. lol How very, very cool on “noticing”. You are one smart cookie, kid. Have a lovely trip!!! You are AWESOME!

  5. I thoroughly enjoy reading your Release Challenges. Its been a while since I checked out your site–and my have you changed! All for the good, of course! And your theory behind the Great Release Challenge is so perfect for me–becoming a better person by focusing on your environment and yourself. Beautiful. I truly look forward to receiving your daily blog.

Speaking of blogs, are there other nature based blogs anyone can recommend? Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to nature trail, etc., but absolutely want to learn more about nature and working with nature. I loved Hedge Witch and am looking forward to grasping more insight. I noticed a Hedge Witch Forum on your site, but it doesn’t look like it is active–it could just be me, as I’m just getting started with blogging, forums, websites.

And Silver…I’m also a Pennsylvanian, except on the west side of the state. It was a rush when reading your book to find out you are in the same state–don’t find many nature-based authors from PA!

  6. Well, got one window and a windowlet (small window pane in the front door), plus microwave, toaster oven door, oven door, and two mirrors…the rest will have to wait for spring since they’re all covered with aluminium foil that I’ll be replacing in spring. 🙂 We’re both highly photo sensitive (side effects of meds past for me and meds current for my partner) and also live next door to a spotlight – so we prize our dark of night even when it’s at noon. But hey…I can also joke that my house is safe from aliens…my whole house wears a tin foil hat…LOL

  7. Its been a few days since ive written. I fell sick for several days over the weekend, sadly i missed our communities yule ritual. Yesterday was my friends fathers funeral so kind of a sad day. Im all caught up on all the challenges and my sacred room is finally finished and feeling and looking spectacular! I cleaned several windows and mirrors and tv screens today and also polished the furniture and am currently working on the laundry. Trying to get ready for xmas eve. Just waiting on a friend to come over tomorrow to help with the vacuuming. Then tomorrow evening we are going out rollerblading to get some exercise and have some fun before all the craziness of the holidays kicks in. I hope your room is coming a long nicely, id love to see pics when its done if you want to share. I know you mentioned seeing pictures of my sacred space, but im not good with technology and am unsure how i would post it on here? If anyone could help id be grateful, otherwise maybe i could post it on Facebook and share the link here? Im open to suggestions. I hope everyone had a great yule. I wanted to do a ritual and spend more time in sacred space but going to the funeral yesterday kind of put me in a somber mood. So i light some candles and incense and just relaxed and remembered and said some prayers.

I do have a question, i have several (for lack of better words) egotistical, and negative people coming on xmas eve to our house, is there any spell i could do to help keep the peace? Ive placed crystals, said prayers and worked with Reiki. Ive never had to deal with this before but for some reason a ton of people in my family have been fighting really bad in the last few days, and im a Cancer, the peace keeper. Im a bit stressed and worried about it, but trying not to be. Thanks in advance.

    Many blessings

  8. I only cleaned one window before I left the house today, and as it was dark when I returned I set about cleaning the mirrors. Funny thing is, I told myself “tomorrow I’m going to clean the windows in my car and get rid of that pesky dog nose print in my line of vision.” I just read the challenge for tomorrow, and there it is, the car. I don’t have much to clean ‘out’ of the car. The only things in it are leashes, bowl, water, lint roller, tug toys, and bungie cords. They have to stay, but it is dirty so clean is what it will get. Oddly enough, I’ve been thinking on my vision issues and both today’s challenge and the emerald tablet mentioned in tomorrow’s reflect those issues. What have I refused to ‘see’ or ‘look at’ to move forward in my life? Is there a reason I have put ‘blinders’ on? And when you consider what glaucoma is, what am I refusing to release? Interesting that the glaucoma only became unmanageable since my husband’s death, and I haven’t done much to move forward since then. Things to ‘look at’ and examine. Hmm…
